Medium Safi Ceramic Bowls | Moroccan Pottery
These little Moroccan pottery bowls are about 9 cm wide and make perfect little sauce bowls, snack bowls and even look lovely as jewellery dishes.
We have them in three sizes and we love to mix and match them although some designs we sometimes have in all sizes.
This black and white decorated pottery comes from Safi which is just up the coast from Essaouira on the coast of Morocco, North West of Marrakech.
The process of making this pottery is long and each step is done by hand. The clay is dug from the ground, it must be the correct consistency to work with and then it is shaped, painted and fired. Many of the kilns are still heated with fires which can be unpredictable and so some pieces do not survive.
Each piece is hand painted, with quite big variations and we love to compare them. Please do expect these variations as they are part of each individual bowl's charm.
We have a selection of patterns and because each one is handmade, the sizes do vary slightly although we separate them into tiny, small and medium.
