BE LIFESTYLE BOUTIQUE - A REVIEW
I LOVE BE Lifestyle Boutique
Melodic music and the scent of candles greet you as you enter BE Lifestyle Boutique on Moss Lane, and it’s easy to forget for a moment that you’re in Stockport and not holidaying on some far-flung island. I Love Bramhall spoke to owner Babs to find out about many the beautiful items on offer at BE, and the stories behind them.
Having grown up in the south of Spain, Babs always dreamed of having her own shop with an olive tree outside. Five years ago and back in the UK she opened up just that, and BE Lifestyle Boutique has been serving the community of Bramhall and those beyond ever since.
Her passion for travel and meeting people means that Babs is constantly adding new and unique items to the range on offer at the boutique; necklaces from Bali, handbagsfrom Marrakech and clothing from the Netherlands hang side by side on the railings.
Among recognisable brands such as YAYA Clothing and Pilgrim jewellery, Babs has put together a delightful selection of handmade items. There are stunning handbags for you, unusual things for your home and the most adorable hand crocheted clothes and shoes, made in the heart of Bramhall, for your little ones.
Babs believes in supporting small, independent craftspeople and businesses – it’s all about fair trade and giving back to the community at BE. She also sources handmade items from the UK and within Bramhall, as well as stocking a stunning array of silver jewellery made by her own niece.
BE has a loyal and ever-growing clientele in Bramhall and the neighbouring areas, and despite her love for seeing the world, Babs is always glad to return home to the village, which she says has a lovely community atmosphere.
The ladies at BE enjoy getting involved in the local community, from supporting Bramhall’s many independent organisations to participating in activities such as the Scarecrow Festival whose theme was "super heroes" – BE’s contribution is a tribute to Sir David Attenborough!
They also have an online shop, so you can get your hands on items from the other side of the world without even having to leave your home.
Each item has its own story, and Babs will be happy to tell you the journey it took to get to the boutique – finding out the name of the Moroccan man who embroidered your new purse is sure to make it that bit more special.
Showing me a delicate beaded necklace with feather details, Babs tells me how she met the young lady who makes the necklaces on the beach in Bali. The beaming smile on the woman’s face when Babs bought handfuls of the necklaces is just one of the reasons why BE continues to support unique, individual craftspeople.
Sustainability is at the heart of BE Babs works with women’s cooperatives around the world to empower and support the people who make the goods, as well as spending days searching through souqs to find one-of-a-kind items to bring into the shop.
Whether you’re looking for an eye-catching addition to your home, a gift for a loved one or a treat for yourself, you’ll be hard-pressed not to find something you love at BE Lifestyle Boutique.
